What Rockhampton Has To Offer

by on November 3, 2009

Rockhampton lies just North of the Tropic of Capricorn in central Queensland. The city is situated on the banks of the Fitzroy River approximately 40 Km from the river mouth.

The region experiences a humid subtropical climate with temperatures as high as 40 degrees recorded in October to March. The river itself has a long and well documented history of flooding and the highest flood recorded to date was in January 1918 and reached 10 metres.

Rockhampton has lots of attractions to offer including The Rockhampton Botanic Gardens, The Rockhampton Zoo, The Rockhampton Art Gallery and Kershaw gardens to name a few. It is also home to seven shopping centres all with major retailers.

The Rockhampton Airport is vital for tourism and is the twelfth busiest domestic airport in Australia.
